I found a site with the recipe for a DIY Lip Scrub here and I felt compelled to do it myself. I'm not really one for making things myself, I tend to leave it to the people that know best, but as this was so simple and easy I felt that I had to try it. The original turorial link above is much more indepth of properties of ingredients and better photos, but I felt I needed to give it a go to show just how easy it was to make!

all you need is

2 tablespoons of pure coconut oil
2 tablespoons of honey
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
a mixing bowl
some small pots to put your finished scrub into.

Put the two tablespoons of pure coconut oil in your mixing bowl and add the two tablespoons of honey, mix them together until they form a paste. If the mixture is a little too gooey add a little bit more coconut oil into it.
Make sure you get out all the lumps out of the coconut oil and that it is covered in the honey completely, this is the longest part of the whole process and does give your arm a work out too!

once it has got to the right paste like consistency add the two teaspoons of brown sugar and mix well, if you have any oil from the coconut oil in the bottom of your jar you could add a teaspoon to your mixture to smooth it out more and too give added moisturisation to your scrub.

Once all the brown sugar is mixed into the mixture and covered well, its time to put it into the pots that your have ready and waiting. you can use anything, I had some small jars around but you can use baby food jars or herb pots, whatever you have around.

Once finished store in fridge and it should keep for 2 weeks.

I have used it and it really is moisturising and makes your lips soft.It feels strange after you have used it as if you have been kissing someone for ages, lips feel slightly numb and tender, but not painful at all, after 20 mins the feeling goes and your left with soft lips that feel well moisturied.

I make a pot for my friend Laura as well as myself. I will be making this more often as its a damn site cheaper than any other scrub i've seen!

It's that time of the year again and as the temperature has dropped the bugs seem to hang on for dear life and make you feel miserable.

For as long as I can remember I have been susceptible to cold and flu, where a normal person may have 2 or 3 illnesses a year I tend to get at least 7.

I was born with a hole in my heart due to a premature birth, I believe this has weekend my immune system a little bit, either that or my immune system is just crap at it's job, either way I get ill a lot.

When I am ill, whether it is cold or flu (preferable the first one) there are a few things I do without fail. I don't really know if they even work anymore as I have been doing them for so long.

1) Lots of fluids including orange juice or dissolvable vitamin c tablets, I tend to stay away from fizzy drinks and tea. However I have drunk a lot of Honey tea, just put some Honey into hot water as honey has a natural ingredient that kills off bacteria.
2) Tissues, lots and lots of tissues, my nose tend to work overtime on cold duty and I go through so much.
3) Vaseline, for if my nose does get sore its the least painful thing to use to sooth the area.
4) Vicks Vapo rub or Olbas Oil inhaler. for the chest these are really helpful, they may not be the nicest smelling things in the world and even if you don't think they are working they are usually doing lots of good and helping you.
5) Tablets, cold and Flu ones that help reduce temperature or just normal paracetamol, either way I can't get through a illness without a few, even if its just to ease the banging head that comes with any cold!
6) Wrap up, and use a hot water bottle at night. I tend to try and sweat the cold out , but as I cant deal with too much heat this doesn't really work too well, but it makes you feel cwtchy.
7) Try and get as much sleep as I can, I would sleep through the hole thing if my body would allow it!
8) Eat, even if I don't really want to, I will have 2 pieces of toast, just to keep my energies up and fuel the fight with the cold!
9) Hot baths. not only is the vapor from the bath good for clearing away your runny nose for a while it gives you a boost and relaxes your sore muscles.

There is a lot of advice out there to help you with your cold/flu but as everyone is different, what may work for me may not work for you, Trial and Error is the key!

I've not done a lot last week, I manicured my nails and thought they are anything but perfect they are 100times better than they were 4 months ago, I used to bite the nail and pick the skin around the nail and the quick. another 4 months and they should look really good.

My hair is getting healthier, I have started to use Aussie, I used to use it all the time but for some reason I stopped, I'm just using the conditioner but my hair is a lot softer and shiny.

A love puzzle from my husband and a new house plant that I think is lovely.

Finally I tried a new up do, Its a bit messy but not bad and on an evening out I tried to stay natural with my make up, That's really it for this week. Ive been ill over the weekend so haven't really done much or gone anywhere. hopefully a more interesting week to come.

This Is my daily life, I wash my hair with herbal essences and use Aussie 3 min hair conditioner, The Aussie hair conditioner is amazing. I would thoroughly recommend buying some if you have never used it before, It really does do what it says. I have a choice of body washes depending on my mood.

When I get out of the shower I tone my face and use a body butter to moisturise and then moisturise my face, when I'm all done I feel clean and soft. The body butter that I am currently using smells like fudge and is lovely. I got it for Christmas in a set and I have no idea where from.

What do you use for your daily life?

I picked up a few things in the illamasqua sale, I got a stunning red nail varnish (it looked more pink ion the webpage but its still lovely. Some under eye concealer as my eyes always have bags and a sheer lipgloss. each item was only £5 and I love them all.

My Friend also picked me up a pure pigment the other week. Its funny how 3 months ago I had never even heard of Illamasqua, but now I drool over so many things.

I haven't used the nail varnish yet, but I can't wait to have a few days when I can test it, My work does not allow bright varnish or glitter, so I have to wait til I have at least two days off for me to test the product fairly.

The lip gloss is not as bright as it looks in the pot and apart from wearing off too quickly is a good product.

All these are good products and of excellent quality and are worth the money, especially when they are on sale for only £5, BARGAIN!

After doing the post about the new shoes I bought, I felt inspired to get my old shoes out and look at them and as I love all my shoes, I felt that I needed to share the beauty of them. Now as I stated before I cant really wear high heels any more, but that does not stop me looking and lusting after shoes and I can not bring myself to throw these beauties away. I call all my favourite shoes 'My Sex on Heels' I do now know why, I picked it up from somewhere and I still use it!

So here goes,

Pair number one, A pair of Playboy open toed wedges that were from a sport shop and cost me £18, Im not too keen on them now, but I do still like them and can wear them with comfort as the platform takes away a lot of the height.
My next is a pair of satin style red heels with a knot decoration, these were from F&F and were (I think)£23.
This is my go to pair as they are not too high and go with a lot of things, they are a black and glittery pair.these I can not remember where I got them from, It may have been M&S but I really can't remember
This pair is a purple sequined heels with a slight platform and were from M&S and cost £15, they were on sale.
My final favourite pair is a pair of black suede cut out boot shoes that are just stunning, they are the highest pair I own and can not wear them more than 5 mins without severe pain. These were from F&F and I think they were £20. My goal over the next year is to build up my ankles to be able to wear these out!

I have decided to do a few posts on my daily life, so first of all I wanted to show you how I organise my make up. the gold tub has all my foundations, concealers, primers and blushes in. The black box holds all my eye things, Mascara, eye liner and lots of shadows, The pink glittery box holds all my lipgloses and lipsticks, I  also have a few sets to big to box up.

I used to have all my make up loose in the draw, which in a way was easier to access but was not so easy to find my products, so I decided to do this. I want to get some drawer set to sit on top of my dresser, but I have to wait till pay day and to find ones I like. So this is my solution for now.
These next pics are not organised, they are just collections that I was bought for Christmas/Birthday. I love my Front Cover sets, as you can see by the use of them. I especially love the one Cheek dome and use it all the time, Its great for my skintone. However I haven't really found a look to go with the other one yet, its too cool for my liking.
So there is all my male up and brushes and what I do to keep them organised, What do you do?

I found this tag by Lianey of thelianey and I felt that I needed to do it to, Its a nice one that is quite drilling around your day to day beauty life.

Is your hair curly or straight?
My hair is straight, I need to use straighteners to get is sleek, and if I use a bobble it will automatically give me a kink, but it is straight.

What is your natural hair colour?
Urgh, I hate my nautral colour, it is a dark dark blonde that almost looks brown and it always looks greasy so I dye it all the time.

Do you dye it yourself or go to the salon?
Normally myself, I have done hightlights and gone from dark brown to blonde with the aid of a hairdresser but I like to do it myself and save myself a few pounds.

How often do you wash your hair?
Generally I wash my hair every other day, sometimes in the winter I may leave it 3 days and a lot of times in summer I do it everyday, It really just depends.

Do you wear the same style everyday or change it?
I tend to throw my hair up into a pony, as I'm not very original, I will sometimes have a play around and do twists or a french braid coming over my fringe line to the side, but its normally in a pony during the day and down for bed.

Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I like to play around with my own nails, I have never really done a pedi, not as detailed as I do with a mani. I have gone a few times to have my nails done, at one point I had false nails, but have now grown mine out and I am enjoying learning to style them.

How often do you change your nail polish?
I change them between 2 or 3 times a week, depending on work or if they get worn down.

Do you polish your toes in winter or just in summer?
My feet stay covered, so I rarely do them. but summer is more likely than winter.

How long does it take to put on your makeup?
Depending on my look, if its everyday it takes me 5 minutes, if I want to go more indepth its 10-15, and for a special occasion or night out it can take me 25.

What do you do first, face or eyes?
I normally do my face first, but if I am choosing an eyeshadow that has a lot of fall out I will do my eyes first.

Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I collect. I keep my make up far too long to never really throwing anything out til i hit pan or it dries up, I have more than I could use for the rest of my life, but I still want more.

How often do you wear false eye lashes?
I can't get on with false lashes, they never stick for me, so I stick to mascara.

Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
This really depends on my mood, but not normally, I have only 4 product that I tend to use on a day to day basis, bbcream, mascara, eye liner and a lip gloss/stick.

Do you wear makeup when your home alone, or with family?
No, I'm normally natural and don't really care.

Will you leave the house without makeup?
I have no problem leaving house without make up, but 8/10 days I need make up to cheer me up.

How many high end products do you have?
I have a few, but not lots, 2 foundations, 1 mascara, 2 nail varnishes, 1 primer, 1 highligher, 1 concealer, 1 lipgloss,  a few eye shadows.

How often do you wash your makeup brushes?
Normally about 2-3 weeks, I should do it more often, but im just too lazy.

Do you plan your OOTD every night or when you're getting dressed?
Only as I'm getting dressed, not often that I plan things like that.

How often do you change your handbag?
I have 3 handbags that I change and use as I fancy them.

What time do you get up and go to sleep?
I go to bed about midnight, but sleep is a thorny subject for me, I don't sleep well and it takes me a long time to get to sleep. I usually drag myself groggily out of bet about 9.

How often or when do you work out?
I don't really, unless I'm trying to lose weight.

Left handed or right handed?
Right handed.

How tall are you?
Around 5' 4, I think.

Do you speak a foreign language?
not really, despite 5 years of Welsh, 5 of German and 3 of French, I can't remember bugger all!

How many pets do you have?
I am not allowed pets where I live, but I have a god that lives with my parents.

Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
only a mental one, and most of the time I forget but that's what my amazing friend Laura is for, she always knows the key things going on in the beauty world.

How did you come up with your blog name?
I cant really remember, I know I wanted something with my name in it and I wanted something to show that it was me and all my thoughts and Christina's Way seemed right.

What kind of camera do you use for your photos?
I have a sony camera, a bog standard point and shoot that I use for my posts and I also use my phone a lot for instagram and fb ect, its just quicker sometimes.

How often do you clean your house?
I do a good deepish clean every week, with mini cleans to keep on top of it every few days, I do a spring clean in February and November.

Do you swear?
Yes, Like a trooper, not something that I'm proud of, but as my husband is chef it's hard to get away from it.

What is your favourite colour?
I love purple and it generally suits me too.

What are you doing with the rest of your day?
As its 1am and I'm doing this post because I can't sleep, I hope to get to sleep before half two and wake up early and work on more posts for the rest of the week tomorrow.

So, I hope your learnt more about me!
I TAG anyone who is reading this to do this! please let me know with a link to your page if you have I love to read more about you.

Due to snow, Ive had a pretty un-eventful week and with more snow coming in all I want is my post (I haven't had any since Thursday) as Ive ordered a few things I'm looking forward to but with even more snow, I doubt they will come anytime soon.

So apart from work, going to the new M&S that opened by me (see shoes post) and trying to get my husband to work on icy roads, my week had been boring.

Pictures are of snow, a movie night it, my husband in M&S, his addiction to star wars angry birds and my nails for the week.

I love shoes and my husband has let me (ha thats a laugh) buy 3 pairs in the last two months, this may seem like nothing to some people, but to me this is a lot. I haven't really been able to wear heels for a few years due to ligament damage in my ankle, but have slowly built up to be able to wear 2-3inch heels for a few hours.

I love all the shoes that I bough but especially the last pair.
The lace up trainer style boots are from F&F and Ive had my eye on them since they came out, but at £22 I couldn't justify the money, then they came down to £10 and I could no longer resist.

The second pair has a beautiful floral design that will work with just about anything and were £19.50 from M&S.

And Finally a faux suede dark blue pair of boot shoes from M&S that broke my budget but I felt I had to be naughty once in a while, at £29.50 I think these are some of the most expensive shoes I have ever bought and I don't care as they are stunning!
